Steven presents IU13- Power of a Song Workshop for IU13 students

Description of Seminar:  In this interactive seminar, students will explore the highly creative form of language that is songwriting. Studying and writing poetry allows us to play with language in a way that uniquely showcases emotion. What happens when we put those “poems” and thoughts to music? Throughout the seminar, led by award-winning musician, Steven Courtney, students will communicate thoughts and ideas via lyrics and songwriting.  Time will be spent studying music genres and the effects of songwriting in various cultures around the world. If you are someone who loves language and enjoys music, this seminar will be a unique opportunity to learn from an accomplished musician who has been an Artist in Residence in many schools.
